About Duckweed Bookstore
Inspired by his youth as an explorative misfit kid (and as an equally misfit adult!), author-illustrator and researcher Spencer Marco founded Duckweed Bookstore to cultivate curiosity in readers of all ages and from all walks of life. The heart of his work has always rested in supporting his communities through education, kindness, patience, and a willingness to learn.
This little bookshop was never meant to change history, but rather, to show you that it can be changed, and that we have all the power in the world for positive change if we choose it.
About the Author
Spencer Marco (he/him) is a mixed-race, QTBIPOC, autistic author-illustrator and scholar with a love for stories that illustrate marginalized communities like his own. He is a 2nd generation Asian American now calling British Columbia home alongside his partner Adrian and beloved weird pets.
He is a recognized specialist in French trans+ children's literature, with his work being featured in publications by notable organizations like the National Library of France, Éditions On ne compte pas pour du beurre, and the Francophone Society of Victoria.

Duckweed Bookstore is QTBIPOC and autistic-owned & operated. I prioritize accessibility in all its forms and will always work to ensure that no one is locked out of these resources because of their identity or circumstances. I strive to make sure my work is anti-oppressive, decolonial, and anti-racist.
While I openly welcome well-intentioned and respectful discussions between those with differing perspectives, this is no place for arguing whether or not our fellow human beings deserve their humanity.
No one is free until we all are.
Duckweed Bookstore operates on the unceded territory of the Lək̓ʷəŋən Peoples and actively supports the efforts of Indigenous communities towards reconciliation and decolonization.
